A weekend that had a little bit of everything

On the bed getting ready to sleep now. Felt like this weekend passed by in a flash. But that’s what it’s like when you’re having a good time. I want to get some good sleep in tonight since I’ve decided to always start the week rested. Feels so much better than being a zombie.

Had dinner with mom and dad on Friday and fell asleep real early. Actually missed the soccer final that the gals sadly lost. They deserved to win but a silver medal is still pretty darn impressive!

On Saturday I spent a few hours fiddling around with my HTPC. I’ve stuck GTX 1080 in that computer (probably already mentioned that) but since it can’t really take advantage of it I wanted to see what could be gained from overclocking the CPU. Quite a lot actually. Went from 7500 Fire Strike score (3DMark) to nearly 9000. The FPS stays more solid in games now than it did before. Took the CPU from 3.6GHz to 4.4GHz.

Then I got a call from Daniel, the brother of a close friend, who wanted to go for a mountain bike ride. He lives outside the city and his daughter had a birthday party in town. So he brought his bike along and we went to try out the new trails. Lots of fun but I realize that I’ve become scared of riding too technical sections. I’ve had some crashes and my confidence has taken a toll. I don’t really enjoy riding that kind of terrain anymore which is a real shame. About the only sad part about this weekend, haha.

Later I hung out with Elin B. who had cooked dinner for me. So good! I salute you! We watched the women’s mountain bike cross country final where Jenny Rissveds won gold. You’re awesome! Then we watched Bad Neighbors 2 which was hilarious. Haha. Not quite as good as the first one but still hilarious. When Zac Efron runs in the rain feeling betrayed by his friends, All by myself playing in the background. So funny. Recommended! Then we managed to squeeze in the penalty kicks drama between Brazil and Germany as well. Happy they managed to win gold given how it went down two years ago between the same countries.

Today I’ve been playing some Doom (come get some!), visited granny in Borås and then hung out with Elin T. It’s a shame we don’t live closer since I really enjoy talking to her and we share the interest for movies and TV shows. We went to the movie theatre to see Nerve. I’ve heard about it from the actress Emma Roberts who has been posting about it on her Instagram. It dealt with social media, the hysteria for attention, followers, watchers, viewers or what not. Also it dealt with how the mob can start to behave. The rage. The hate. But it was also very funny from time to time. I preferred the first half of the movie. It was interesting and exciting!

Now I’m gonna make myself some sandwiches, have some Oatly chocolate drink and watch 7 myths about movement. Then I’m gonna hug the pillow. Sweet dreams y’all!

Omnicharge battery bank

Sometimes, just sometimes, ads surprise you and hand you stuff that you are interested in. It’s happened twice for me lately on Facebook. One with ” target=”_blank”>Oi the bike bell that I funded instantly since I’ve had no luck with bike bells in the past. That it was pretty and well built was a nice bonus. Earlier this week it struck again. Another crowdfunding project. This time it was Omnicharge, a smart battery bank. I’ve been in the search for a more capable one with a large battery. This one even has a regular socket and can output up to 100 watts. That means it will charge your computer with ease.

Computer upgrades

Last time I did an upgrade to my computer was in February three years ago. I then stuck two GeForce GTX 670 in it and ran SLI. That worked really well back then since one single card couldn’t really max all games and still run at 60 fps or higher. Back then the Kepler based GTX Titan was the king of the hill and that was still slower than my two 670s. But yeah, like I said, it wasn’t enough to run all my games at or above 60 fps in 1920 x 1200.

A couple of weeks back I bought a new monitor for the PC. I’ve been eyeing the ultrawide monitors for some years now. Was really close to buying LGs first 34 inch one but realized I wouldn’t be using it that much since I wasn’t playing any games or sitting on the computer back then. Lately I’ve been doing much more of that so I thought it was about time to upgrade the computer a bit. Bought myself a Dell 34 inch ultrawide and to go along with that I also upgraded the GPU.

It’s quite amazing that now you can get a GPU that can run pretty much all games at that ultrawide resolution above 60 fps. So no real need for a G-sync monitor really. The GPU in question is of course nVidias new Pascal-based GTX 1080. It almost manages to run games in 4K at over 60fps with settings cranked up. At 3440 x 1440 which is the resolution I’m using on the Dell monitor it runs every game really well. So yeah, stoked!

Now I’m looking forward to playing some games on it, like Doom, Fallout 4, Dirt Rally, Assetto Corsa and Starbound 🙂

Sun and rain, sun and rain..

It has finally come! My much anticipated vacation. Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanks! And for once I had a slow last week which means I’m already wound down. Lovely!

This weekend I’ve not done much but exercising, playing games and watched movies. I’ve started with the last expansion for Witcher 3, called Blood and Wine. It is gorgeous really. The environments are out of this world. It’s exactly what you’d picture a fantasy world to be like. And honestly, I wouldn’t mind walking around those environments in real world either. Italy next year?! 🙂

I also watched this old movie called Waterworld that I never saw when I was a little kid. It had some funny moments, haha. I can’t say it was terribly bad but it wasn’t that good either. To think that it was the most expensive movie filmed back in 1995 is odd. The premise was quite exciting and it feels like they could have done so much more with it.

Tonight Elin comes over and we are going to watch Interstellar. Should’ve seen that a looooong time ago as well. Not sure why I haven’t. Then again there are a number of movies that I haven’t seen. People are always like… Waaaaaaah, you haven’t seen that?! Or that!? But yeah. There are always things you don’t get time for.

This week I’m having Adina’s cats over. She’s out of town for a couple of days so they’re staying here while she’s gone. Tom is hiding under a blanket as I write this, and Narcissa cuddles next to me. So cosy!

Anyway, I better get some clothes on because we’re meeting down at Ica in ten minutes or so. Optimistic about time as usual! Haha.

You take care guys! Moaaaaaah~

PS. I’ve bought swimming pants for our trip to Majorca in two months. Weeeeeeeeho! Now I just gotta get my passport fixed.
